Sizzle & Sway Instructor Training Course

Before you decide if you would like to go ahead with training up as one of our registered instructors, please read through all of the below. As much as you will be making such a positive difference in this world it is also a huge undertaking with alot of responsibility; we would like you to be fully prepared before you start.

Do I need previous experience to be an instructor?

A specialist instructor? no, the course will teach you everything to be an effective and most importantly safe instructor including all compliance for you to lead your classes. It is desirable though that you have atleast been a student of Burlesque before now (either one of ours by membership or class, or elsewhere) know what our company is all about, and have a heavy interest in the Burlesque world with everything in it.

But before you consider this leap, please reflect on what it is you truly want- money is nice but can you carry out our ethos of promoting good mental health and body positivity, inclusion, empowerment with confidence. As a registered instructor, yes you will be independent and self employed but you will also be representing everything that Sizzle & Sway is. Please check before going ahead that you do not already have a school or instructor in the same area you live, or would plan to set up.

Are you part of or an ally of the LGBTQIA+ Community

The reason why we ask this is that we are part of the Safe Space Alliance and other community safe spaces, this company is Bi-owned and therefore part of the community aswell. We support other performers, events, schools, teachers and businesses that either allies or a part of it and this is heavy in our underpinning of the company itself; of acceptance, tolerance and non-discrimination. If you are personally not an ally, intolerant and outspoken against those within the LGBTQIA+ community; unfortunately training with Sizzle & Sway and being a part of the team would not suit you or would we allow it to go beyond enquiries.

I live outside the UK, can I still do your course?

Yes absolutely. The training is taught English speaking with UK legislation integrated into it, so the downside would be you will have to research your country's policies and guidelines to apply to some areas. There are also some downsides to being outside of the UK as we regularly put together performance events and travel to each other for these, and as much as you would be supported if you want to go down the performance route; we could not physically be there outside of the UK.

What's the training process?

We go over everything that will make you an awesome beginners instructor including;

Burlesque History

What it means to be an instructor

Will I have Exams to do after my training ?

Yes, after you have completed the theory and knowledge part of the course, you will have to record yourself teaching a full 60-90 minute class and send us your video submission for marking.

After completing your theory training you will complete an online questionnaire to demonstrate you have understood the concepts and basic foundations of being an instructor.

Once you have passed both the practical & theory training, we then send you your certificate.

I will be at your full disposal for support during the entire process to make sure you pass with flying colours, all you need to do is contact me.

What happens after training ?

License with us - This opportunity offers a range of plans, class promotion, support & flexibility. You can remain an independent instructor and still teach our routines, our workshops and our courses to your customers. You will also have full support and advice from myself, discounts on any face to face classes/ workshops and also a birthday voucher each year.

It is mandatory after completion to open a 6 month instructor membership to ensure that everything you have learnt is put into practice, and you are not struggling or sinking just trying to set up your class. After that 6 months ends, you are free to go it alone or stay with us for an amazing journey.

How long does the training course take?

The training is completely self paced, so it depends on yourself as an individual to get through the modules. On average course students take anywhere between 4-8 months to get to their assessment day, but make sure you do not rush through it as you could miss important points and this could affect your examination and feedback results. Any longer than 10-12 months, guidelines and legislation can change so we advise to not take any longer than this, after 12 months and non completion, you will be removed from the program.

Will I get a certificate for completing the course?

Yes absolutely, as long as you complete the full course and you have been assessed via your teaching video submission. without this assessment being completed and passed, you will not receive a certificate or be endorsed by the company as it would not be deemed safe to do so.

Do I have to Licence with you after completing the training?

There is a mandatory sign up for our licence of 6 months after completing and passing the training course. This is to give you a leg up on teaching, and having ready access to a library of routines to get you comfortable with your classes, furthermore it will also have advertising your classes included on our website and social platforms.

The instructor memberships can be paid for monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly and yearly depending on your financial situation, after the 6 months has ended you are free to choose whichever path; Stay with us on the adventure, move to a different school, or even set up your own independent company.

What's the cost of the course?

The course is £149, as soon as the purchase goes through you will have immediate access to the course to begin your journey.

Cancellations & Refunds?

Should for any reason you change your mind about becoming an instructor you will not be entitled to a refund as your access to our course is immediate.

You may be able to defer your training to a later date but this will need to be discussed with head office and a small admin fee may be applicable if accepted.

Is there anything else to pay out for?

Once qualified you will need to obtain insurance, first aid etc which is the responsibility of each individual instructor. All guidance on what you will need to apply for is within the training course and will be thoroughly discussed in your after completion meeting.
